Like a bunch of toddlers, hotels are constantly fighting for your attention in an effort to fill their rooms. Years ago, offering a pool and HBO on a color TV was enough to entice a weary traveler to book a room. Now, the stakes are much higher. Hotels want you be loyal to them and will offer various incentives and deals based on your level of loyalty. Take a look at the rewards below. No need to stay make a certain number of trips – These are for the taking just by staying one time:
FREE CALLAWAY GOLF CLUB from Embassy Suites
As if the hot breakfast buffet and evening reception aren’t enough, Embassy Suites is currently offering a free Callaway wedge if you stay just ONE night between September 31 – December 31, 2013. And we’re not talking some sort of damaged wedge with a rainbow grip sitting behind the counter. You will go to the Callaway website where you have your choice of loft options and finishes. So, when you tank on the golf course and need an excuse to save face, you can tell your companions: “I think my wedge is rigged – it was a freebie.” Of course you have to be a Hilton Honors Club member – but the membership is free! RAID THE MINI BAR & FREE FISH at MONACO HOTELS
Monaco’s Parent company, Kimpton Hotels, allows all of their InTouch loyalty members the opportunity to raid the mini bar each time they stay in a Monaco. For each hotel stay, you are allowed to take $10 worth of items from the mini bar ($15 in New York). It’s nice to be able to eat a $3.00 candy bar without feeling like you got ripped off. Monaco Hotels will also put a goldfish in your room during your stay. It’s nice to return to a hotel room in the evening and see your trusty little friend swimming in a fish bowl, without a care in the world. I like to pretend that my goldfish is always the same one– following me from city to city. Bubbles is now almost 10-years-old. Click here to learn more about meeting Bubbles
COMPLIMENTARY WINE & IN-ROOM BREAKFAST AT HILTON
Book with the rate code “RP” and you score a glass of sparkling wine upon check-in and a complimentary room service breakfast the next day. And we’re not talking a couple of stale Danish and a Styrofoam cup of coffee. We’re talking breakfast that includes all of your favorite hot items –delivered to your room! You can pretend you live at Downton Abbey – even if for only one night. Click here to channel your inner Downton Abbey
PAY YOUR BIRTH YEAR AT STARWOOD HOTELS
The year you were born will determine the amount you pay at the hotel! Pay the standard rate for the first night and the rate for the next two nights will be determined on the year you were born. For example, if you were born in 1950, your rate would be $50. Looks like I need to stop lying to people. Claiming I was born in 1984 is definitely a disadvantage here. Click here to learn more about why you shouldn’t lie about your age.
Check out individual loyalty programs for other perks. Memberships usually entitle people to hotel amenities such as free internet, free room upgrades and concierge lounge access. It certainly pays off to be loyal to one chain. But, doing your homework and finding various deals will definitely work to your advantage.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
